Consumer Protection Act, 1986 is an Act of the Parliament of India enacted in 1986 to protect the interests of consumers in India. It makes provision for the establishment of consumer councils and other authorities for the settlement of consumers'disputes and for matters connected there with.


Merits are It gives a many oppportunity to theconsumer such as 1 Right to seek redressal in this if any consumer is damaged with food products , electrical appliances. Have the rule to file their case in consumer court. Demerits In ancient time when the consumerright was not established if any product is damaged seller find the mistake of consumer and blame him.

COPRA MEANS CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT , 1968. MERITS:... 1. IT HELPS TO REDUCE MARKET ADULTERATION. 2. GIVE POWER TO THE CONSUMER . 3. HELP CONSUMER BY PROTECTING THEM FROM MARKET EXPLORATION. DEMERITS. .. 1. IT IS TIME CONSUMING FOR CONSUMER. 2. IT IS NOT BELIEVE THAT CONSUMER ALWAYS WIN . 3. IT DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY . 4. IT IS MONEY CONSUMING .
