Answer:

It is actually corpus luteum

A corpus luteum is a mass of cells that forms in an ovary and is responsible for the production of the hormone progesterone during early pregnancy. The role of the corpus luteum depends on whether or not fertilization occurs

Answer:

After Ovulation, the remaining parts of the Graafian follicle transform in the corpus luteum. It is responsible for the production of progesterone which helps in maintaining the endometrium wall in uterus! Regression of corpus luteum also occurs when it becomes fully developed, which causes decrease in the level of progesterone if fertilization doesn't occurs otherwise progesterone is released by placenta and maintain endometrium.
