★ Its granulosa cells have lutin granules , these are infact carotein ( yellow in clolour ).That's why the whole structure becomes yellow , hence the term corpus luteum .

★ Corpus luteum is the main source of PROGESTERONE .

★ It also secretes estrogen hormone .
