Corpus leutum of the ovary act as an Endocrine gland.
It secretes progestron hormone which induces development of uterine blood vessels and gland in the endometrium during luteal phase of menstural cycle.

This small structure on surface of ovary appears after ovulation. Its function is secretion of progesterone and other steroid hormones to support the uterine thickness and maintain the high blood supply for impending implantation, should fertilization occur

If fertilization does not occur in 7–10 days following ovulation, corpus luteum dies and hormone production ceases slowly leading to shedding of uterine wall. This is the monthly menstrual flow observed in fertile women with 28-day cycle
