Answer:

Corrosion is a natural process that converts a refined metal into a more chemically stable form such as oxide, hydroxide, or sulfide.

we can protect metals from being corroded in following ways :-

  • Protective Coatings.
  • Environmental Measures.
  • Sacrificial Coatings.
  • Corrosion Inhibitors.
  • Design Modification.

the solution formed by the reaction of sodium with water is basic. Reaction of sodium with water

Sodium metal reacts rapidly with water to form a colourless solution of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and hydrogen gas (H2). The resulting solution is basic because of the dissolved hydroxide.

Answer

Corrosion is a process of rusting. it's a slow process and is highly damaging. Rusting of iron goes deep into iron until the whole iron didn't rust.

we can protect it by coating it with either zinc or nickel and this process is called galvanizing. Coating with nickle is called electroplating .

the reaction of sodium with water is basic.

sodium realax rapidly on water and form a colourless reaction of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and hydrogen gas releases

2Na + 2 H2O -----> 2NaOH + H2
