Rust is an iron oxide, a usually red oxide formed by the redox reaction of iron and oxygen in the presence of water or air moisture. ... Rusting is the common term for corrosion of iron and its alloys, such as steel. Many othermetals undergo similar corrosion, but the resulting oxides are not commonly called rust.

{\huge\star{\mathfrak{\underline{\underline{Answer:}}}}}

\textbf{CORROSION :} The slowely degradation of surface of metal by atmosphere is known as the process of Corrosion. In this the Metal oxidised. Corrosion is one of the harmful effects of Oxidation.

\textbf{Example :}

 4Cu + O_{2}\xrightarrow{} 2Cu_{2}O

\textbf{Rusting and corrosion are}
\textbf{slightly different.}

Rusting is an example of Corrosion. The corrosion of Iron is known as Rusting. Hence, rusting is corrosion but each type of corrosion is not rusting.

\textbf{Equation :}

3Fe+4H_{2}O \xrightarrow{} Fe_{3}O_{4}+4H_{2}
