The chemical bond formed between two atoms by the mutual sharing of electrons between them is known as a covalent bond.
CCl4 - Carbon Tetrachloride
Carbon forms covalent bond as it has 4 valence electrons and needs to gain or lose 4 electrons to attain noble gas configuration. But losing or gaining 4 is not possible due to energy consideration hence it shares electrons to form covalent bond
It cannot lose 4 electrons because veey high energy is required to remove 4 electrons and it cannot gain 4 electrons as it is difficult for 6 protons to hold on to 10 electrons
