The poem Dolphin is written with a purpose of enlightening us that even though dolphins are mammals and are man’s best friends, Man is dominating and controlling them. He wants to restrict their freedom for his own benefit never once thinking about these modest creatures, just like our friends, when they try to control our life.
The poem has a sad and depressing tone. It is evident from ‘There is no hope’ and ‘our mind knows we will die here’ these lines. The poem reflects the thought of Dolphins how they are certain that they have a bleak future. ‘We are not free’ and we ‘cannot breathe for long’ are the lines that emphasize it.
