Steam produces more severe burns.

  • When the water is boiled, it starts to evaporate as soon as it reaches the boiling point.
  • At this point, the water vapours contain the latent heat of vaporization.
  • This heat is required to change the state from liquid to gas.
  • At the same temperature, the steam contains more heat than the water.
  • If come in contact, the steam can cause more severe burns as compared to boiling water.
