Steam produces more severe burns.
- When the water is boiled, it starts to evaporate as soon as it reaches the boiling point.
- At this point, the water vapours contain the latent heat of vaporization.
- This heat is required to change the state from liquid to gas.
- At the same temperature, the steam contains more heat than the water.
- If come in contact, the steam can cause more severe burns as compared to boiling water.
