Answer:

A blood culture is a test that checks for foreign invaders like bacteria, yeast, and other microorganisms in your blood. Having these pathogens in your bloodstream can be a sign of a blood infection, a condition known as bacteremia. A positive blood culture means that you have bacteria in your blood.

A bacterial culture is a test used to determine whether bacteria or fungi are infecting a wound. Bacterial cultures are typically collected from infected (or potentially infected) tissue, but can also be taken from: Body fluids (blood, urine, sputum, pus).

Samples collected with the swab are sent to the lab. Special tests called cultures can be done to check the type of bacteria that grow from the samples. This also allows the lab to tell which antibiotics will work the best. It usually takes 2 to 3 days to get the results.
