What is dam? Why do we seek to build a large dam? While constructing dams which three problems have to be addressed to maintain peace among people

Dam is barrier constructed to store or hold water and raise its level forming reservoir used to generate electricity or as a water supply for irrigation and for other purposes.

Large dams address three problems i.e.

(i) Social problems

(ii) Economic problems

(iii) Environmental problems
