Gandhiji along with his followers wanted to display their discontent for the salt tax which have British the monopoly over salt production.So to break the salt tax Gandhiji and his followers matched from Sabarmati ashram to Dandi. On reaching Dandi Gandhiji lift a fistful of salt and broke the salt tax.
