EXPLANATION:
The Deccan trap is associated with one of the largest volcanic eruptions in the history of the earth. They consist of multiple layers of solidified flood basalt and lava which is around 2000m thick.
They have been formed millions of years ago due to volcanic eruptions. These eruptions must have lasted for around 30,000 years. The Deccan traps reduced in size due to the shift in tectonic plates and erosion.
