The strength or ionization ability of an electrolyte is expressed in terms of degree of Ionization. It is denoted by α.

It is defined as “the ratio of number of molecules which dissociate into ions to the total number of molecules of the electrolyte”.

hope this will help you

it is the ratio of number of molecules ionized to the total number of molecules of the substance it is denoted by Alpha \mathsf{(\alpha)}

  \boxed{\mathsf \green{Degree \:  of  \: ionisation \:   (	\alpha )  =  \frac{number \: of \: molecules \:ionised }{number \: of \: molecules \: taken} }} \\
