What is demineralised water? How is it obtained

Demineralised water is a purify water from which all kinds of salts and minerals are removed.

It is obtained by the following method. 

This method relies on passing water through ion exchange resins, where contaminating anions and cations present in the water are exchanged with hydrogen (H) and hydroxide (OH), which then are combined to form water.

Water which is free from all cations and anions are Demineralized Water ...

It is not suitable for drinking purpose as it don't contains even useful minerals. So, to make it useful for drinking useful minerals in proper amount should be added to it.


It can be obtained by passing hard water first from cation exchange resins and then through anion exchange resins...
