A democracy is based on free and fair elections. In a democracy, those who are currently in power, have a fair chance of losing. Here, each adult citizen has one vote and one vote only has one value. This government rules within the limits set by the constitutional laws and the citizens rights.
A democracy is also the best form of government because it is the most accountable form of government. Let's take an example of China, when the famine occured in China, almost three crore people died. India's economic condition was also not much better than China at that, but still no famine was there in India as the democracy in India forced the Indian government to look over the food scarcity in a way that the Chinese government did not.
Democracy is based on discussion and consultation, therefore, it also improves the quality of decision making. Democracy is also the best solution to deal with a conflicts and differences between the people of a country.
Democracy also enhances the dignity of the citizens as in a democracy, all the people are treated equally and have certain rights. There is a room for correction of the mistakes done by the leader, and hence, democracy also allows us to correct its own mistakes.
