relative density means density of the given object with respect to water. Specific gravityis the other term used for expressing relative density with respect to water. In a wide use, relative density of an object is the density of the object with respect to the density of a given reference material. Being a ratio,it has no units.Density is defined as mass per volume. Density of a material is the amount of substance contained in unit volume of the material. SI unit of density is kg/m3.
