The Design View is your virtual sketchpad. You can add or remove components, edit layout properties, direct edit labels, and see what your overall design looks like as it evolves. Select a component in the Design View to make it appear in the Property Pane, where you can edit its properties.

Answer:

The design view helps to design a web page in the web application development tool; it displays web pages, HTML pages, content pages, master pages, and user controls. It allows the adding of the text elements in an appropriate position with a desired size; it helps to set the properties via menus or property window. The split view shows design view and source view to switch into design view, click the design tab in the designed window.

Design view is a different one from the web browser view; in the design view surface is an editable one; some of the elements which are displayed in the design view for editing purpose is not rendered in the web browser; formatting may be different from the design view to browser view; in design view hyperlinks and server code will not function.

In design view, the elements are positioned top to bottom and in the web view also it is rendered in the same order, and it is also possible to position the elements in the horizontal and vertical coordinates.

Navigator in the design view is used to display the hierarchy of tags; document outline ensures that the elements are located within the document.
