Diazotization Titration or Nitrite Titration. Diazotization is used in the analysis of aromatic compounds containing an amino group in the molecules. This analysis is based on the reaction between aromatic primary amine (–NH2), HONO, in presence of excess mineral or inorganic acids.

Hey mate,

# Diazotization-
- The process of forming diazonium compounds(salts) is called diazotization.
- Diazonium salts are group of compounds sharing a common functional group with the characterstic structure of R-N2-X where R is alkyl/aryl organic residue and X is organic/inorganic anion.

# Diazotization titrations-
- Aromatic primary amines react with sodium nitrite in acidic solutions to produce diazonium salts.
- C6H5NH2 + NaNO2 + HCl ---> C6H5N2Cl + NaCl + 2H2O
- End point is indicated by presence of small amount of nitrous acids.

# Applications-
- used in detection of primary aromatic amines
- used in analysis of ddugs such as benzocaine, primaquine, dapsone, etc

Thanks for asking...
