\boxed{\bold{\mathbb{\red{\Large{ACID}}}}}

Acid is a substance which releases Hydrogen ions in its Aqueous state. An acid disassociates into ions when it is mixed with water.

To be more simple, Anything which turns a blue litmus paper to red is called as an acid.

An acid has its pH vale less than 7.

In taste, Acids taste sour.

Whenever we taste substances containing acids we feel a sour taste.

Example - Lemon contains citric acid, Guava contains Oxalic acid, Curd contains Lactic acid, et cetera.

Example -

(i) Hydrochloric Acid (Hcl)

(ii) Sulphuric Acid (H2SO4)

(iii) Nitric Acid(HNO3)

(iv) Sulphurous Acid(H2SO3)

Et cetera.

\boxed{\bold{\mathbb{\blue{\Large{ALKALI}}}}}

Water soluble Bases are called as Alkalis.

Alkalis release Hydroxide ions in its Aqueous solution.

It turns red litmus to blue and has a pH value more than 7.

Alkalis give a soapy feeling and are bitter in taste. Tasting them can be injurious to health as they have a very highly corrosive action.

Whenever we taste soap we feel a little bitter taste because it is a Base.

Example -

(i) Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH)

(ii) Potassium Hydroxide (KOH)

Et cetera.

 \rule{200}{2}
