Heya,

To be simple,

Overlapping differences are the differences in which a particular section or caste contains all the rich and high officials and a particular section which contains all poor and uncivilised people.

Example :- Northern Ireland

While,

Cross-cutting differences are the differences in which all the sections have both rich poor people i.e, people of a particular section contain both rich and poor people.

Example:-Netherlands
