Both 'in' and 'on' are prepositions. Prepositions are used in a sentence to express the condition between the a word with another word. ... You have to understand the feeling of the sentence and then assign the word 'in'. 'On' is used to express where the object is, a particular place, over a thing, etc.

Hope it helps...

Hi mate!

Here is my answer to your question

Both are prepositions. Both denote position. While IN stands for position of something or someone inside, the ON, on the other hand, indicates something or someone over not beneath. For instance, you can say – I have kept the pen on the table. You will find my pen in my pocket. HOWEVER they are very common rules for the use of these prepositions. Examples like - What’s onyour mind (not in), what’s time onyour watch – will confuse you a lot. Hence, do not fall prey for the ordinary tricks associated with these prepositions. You need to explore their usages exemplified in various grammar books. The one I like most is – English Grammar and composition by Wren & Martin.

Thank you
