DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MASS AND WEIGHT :

1) Mass is a measure of the quantity of matter contained in a body at rest whereas weight is the force with which the earth attracts the body.

2) Mass is a scalar quantity whereas weight is a vector quantity.

3) S. I. unit of mass is Kg whereas S. I. unit of weight is newton (N).

4) Mass is measured by a physical or a beam balance whereas weight is measured by spring balance which is calibrated to read in Newton.

5) Mass is constant for a body whereas weight is not constant for a body, it can vary from place to place due to the change in the value of "acceleration due to gravity" (g)
