The difference between primary and secondary memory is:-

Primary Memory:-
=>It is called the main memory of a computer.
=>It is very fast.
=>It is the area in a computer system where the data is stored for quick ,easily and direct access by computer's CPU
=>It is of two types: RAM and ROM

Secondary Memory:-
=>It is the cheapest form of computer memory.
=>In comparison to primary memory it is very slow.
=>It is stored in secondary storage devices like hard disk,CD-ROM ,DVD etc
=>It is also permanent in nature.

Primary memory is the memory( hard disk,RAM) where the operating system resides secondry memory can be external devices like flopy magnetic disc secondty memory storage cannot be directly accessed by the cpu and also external memory
