what is difference between real and virtual image

rea = the images which can be obtained on a screen are called real image

virtual = images which can't be obtained on a screen are called virtual image.

Differences :


⇒ A real image is formed due to actual intersection of the light rays.

⇒ A virtual image is formed when the light ray is produced backwards and not actually meeting.


⇒ A real image is always inverted .

⇒ A virtual image is always erect.


⇒ A real image cannot be formed in a concave lens.

⇒ A virtual image can be formed in a concave lens.


⇒ A real image can be obtained on the screen.

⇒ A virtual image cannot be obtained on the screen.


⇒ Example of real image is an image of distant object formed by a convex lens.

⇒ Examples of virtual image is an image formed by concave lens .
