What is difference between scalar and vector quantities?

A scalar quantity has only magnitude, while a vector quantity has both magnitude and direction.

scalar quantities give only magnitude
for example:- speed, etc.
scalar quantities give magnitude as well as direction
for example:- vector, etc.
