what is difference between scelar and vector quantity

scalar quantity depend only on magnitude but vector quantity depend on both direction and magnitude.for eg speed is a scalar quantity there is no need to mention about direction while representing speed but velocity is a vector quantity we need to mention about both direction and magnitude
