what is difference between sooty and non sooty flame

1)sooty flame produces a lot of black smoke and pollution and non sooty flame produces blue flame without pollution
2) the saturated hydrocarbon produces non sooty flame while they burn completely and saturated hydrocarbon produces sooty flame while they did not burn completely in air
