What is difference between speech and debate?

a speech is a formal announcement, and a debate is a back and forth discussion of a single topic with two or more people who my have different views on the subject

In a speech you can focus on both sides of the coin . We may have a neutral opinion on a topic as well . Whereas, in a debate we are expected to be in favour of only one side of the coin. We are supposed to be speaking for or against a particular motion.
