LONGITUDINAL WAVES - the particles of medium oscillate about their central or mean position, in direction parallel to propagation of the wave.Such waves are called LONGITUDINAL WAVES.
TRANSVERSE WAVES- the particle of water oscillate up a d down .These oscillations are perpendicular to the direction of propagation of wave, such waves are called TRANSVERSE WAVES
