what is difference between velocity and speed

speed means the distance covered by some one from point start to end.
and velocity means the shortest distance between both ends


velocity may be zero but speed can't be zero

velocity may be in negative digits but speed can not

Differences are as follows:-
Speed is scalar quantity and velocity is vector quantity.
Speed cannot be zero but velocity can be zero.
Speed is rate of distance covered and velocity is the rate of displacement covered.
