kinetic energy is the energy due to the motion of substance,but
potential energy is the energy due to rest of substance
KE= 1/2 mv^2
PE= mgh
where
m = mass
g= gravity
h= height

The difference between potential and kinetic energy are:
1-Potential energy is dependent on height. Kinetic energy Is not dependent on height.
2-Potential enegy does not depent upon velocity. But Kinetic energy is dependent upon the velocity of a body.
