Differentiation is a mathematical process of finding a derivative of a function.

The derivative of function can give the rate of change of function or the slope of the curve formed by the function.

Differentiation is a simple process and we have to learn the derivative of most of the simple functions as finding them again and again consumes a lot of time.

Integrating a differentiated function gives the original function plus a constant.

Answer:

Differentiation allows us to find rates of change. For example, it allows us to find the rate of change of velocity with respect to time (which is acceleration). It also allows us to find the rate of change of x with respect to y, which on a graph of y against x is the gradient of the curve.
