Diffusion is the spontaneous movement of substances from a region of high concentration to a region of lower concentration. It occurs in all mediums (solid, liquid , gas). Eg. Movement of substances like Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide in the cells.

Osmosis is the movement of solvent molecules from a region of high concentration to a region of lower concentration through a semi-permeable membrane. It occurs only in the liquid medium.

Eg. Movement of water molecules in the roots of plants etc

Answer:

Diffusion:-

It is process of movement of molecules from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration is called diffusion.

• It involves movement of solute particles.

• It doesn’t involve semi-preamble membrane.

• It can occur to long distances.

Osmosis:-

Osmosis is movement of water molecules across a semi-preamble membrane from their higher concentration to lower concentration.

• It involves movement of water molecules.

• It involves semi-preamble membrane.

• It occurs to only short distances.
