The process by which food is broken down into simple chemical compounds that can be absorbed and used as nutrients or eliminated by the body. In most animals, nutrients are obtained from food by the action of digestive enzymes. In humans and other higher vertebrates, digestion takes place mainly in the small intestine

Digestion :
The process that occurs in our body where the complex particles are turned to or broken into simple forms so that they can be absorbed is called digestion.
Fat digestion in duodenum :
Hepatic cells that are found in the organ named liver secretes or produces Bile. This is then stored in a sac named gall bladder.
During the process, the bile is given into the duodenum.
Bile contains the following compounds -
1. Bilirubin as well as Bili - Verdin which are the bile pigments.
2. Salts of bile.
3. Cholesterol.
4. Phospholipids.
Bile acts on the fats and brokes them down into tiny micelles. Lipases, an enzyme which work upon fats, also gets activated by Bile.
Thus, the fats gets digested.
