There are always two ways of reporting the words of the speaker

1)We may quotation in the equation mark. " " The speakers own actual words. This is called direct speech.

Example:He said to me, "I am going".

2)We may report what the speaker said without quoting his exact words. This is known as Indirect speech.

Example:He told to me that he was going.

Rules to change a sentence from direct to indirect :

⭐ Convey the message given by the first person to the third person is termed as indirect speech.

⭐ The person who conveys is the second person to whom the first person told the compliment or a sentence.

✴ Indirect speech is a report on what someone else said or wrote without using that person's exact words.

Words of direct speech will turn to indirect in the following way :

⭐ Now - Then

⭐ Today - That day

⭐ Last night - previous night

⭐ Said - Told

⭐ Will be - would be

She exclaimed with sorrow that Imran was no more.
