direction of friction for rear wheel of a moving cylce is in front of the wheel. As the wheel pushes the ground back, Therefore ground applies friction to it in opposite direction i.e. in front of the wheel. This means that friction helps in the motion of the wheel.

This is similar to when we walk we pushes the ground backwards therefore friction acts in front of us which means that it helps in our motion.

Hope it helps!!
