Dispersion of light is the phenomenon of splitting of white light into its constituent seven colours on passing through a glass prism.

Dispersion itself means the seperation of different components present in mixture.
When we talk about dispersion if light then 1st point to remember is that light is of white coulour made of 7 different colours that form rainbow popularly called VIBGYOR.
Thus, the sepration of white light into 7 distinct coulours while passing through prism like sturcture is called dispersion of light.
We often see then when its rains and sokn aftee the sun appears. Actually, the sunlight rays passes the qater droplets and due to ghis phenomenon we see 7 beautiful coulours in sky called rainbow.
