What is reflection of light?

Reflection is when light bounces off an object. If the surface is smooth and shiny, like glass, water or polished metal, the light will reflect at the same angle as it hit the surface. This is called specular reflection.

Reflection of light happens when a ray of light strikes a polished surface at an angle and gets reflected back at the same angle but on the opposite side of the light source.

If we draw a perpendicular line on the surface then the angle of incidence

i.e. the angle formed with the normal when the light hits the surface and the angle of reflection

i.e. the angle formed by the reflected ray with the normal will be the same.
