difference in ithe intial and the final position.......... for ex.. if umove in a circle your final position and initial position is the same... so the displacement is zero as it is a diff. between them.......

displacement is the length of straight line path that can be drawn from the initial starting point and to the final point that is  shortest distance between the two points
