those reaction in which one element takes the place of another element in a vompound are known as displacement reaction.
.A more reactive element displace a less reactive element from its compound.
eg : when a strip of zinc metal is placed in copper sulphate solution we obtained zinc sulphate soln. and copper.
CuSO4(aq)+Zn(s)-----ZnSO4(aq)+Cu(s)
in above reactionzinc displace copper from copper sulphate soln.and blue colour of cuso4 soln fade due to ZnSO4 which is colourless and brown-red deposits of cu metal formed on Zn metal.
.here displacement reaction takes place because Zn is more reactive dn Cu.
