It is a type of reaction in which exchange of ions take place.

Eg.- AC + BD = Product. (......here A and B are reactants with their C and D ions respectively.....)

So, after going through double - displacement reaction, it would become......

AD + BC = Product (......here A and B are reactants with their D and C ions respectively.....)

More information : These reactions are called double - displacement reactions because in this displacement takes place two times i.e. the first reactant's ions goes to the second reactant and it's ions goes to first reactant. Thus, they displace their places two times...........
