Drought is the period when there is continuous dry weather or there is less rainfall in a particular area for a long time.

The Drought is of 4 types:)

  • Metaorotogical drought
  • Hydrological drought
  • Agricultural drought
  • Socioeconomic drought

Causes of droughts are:)

  2. weather patterns and air circulation
  3. drought can also be for the demand or supply of water issue

Drought can be defined as the condition of prolonged water shortages. It is a long term natural disaster. In india mainly three types of droughts are found, they are:

1. Meteorological droughts

2. Hydrological droughts.

3. Agricultural droughts.

Explanation:

  • All these types of droughts are caused by various factors.
  • Meteorological droughts are caused when an area receives significantly low levels of rainfall than the expected or normal rates.
  • It is the most common type of drought found in India due to low rainfall during monsoons.
  • Hydrological droughts are caused when there is an extreme shortage of surface water which is indicated by drying of rivers, lakes, or other water bodies. It is also related to low rainfall.
  • Agricultural droughts are caused when there is inadequacy of soil moisture and which leads to the failure of crops and hence fall in agricultural productivity.
  • In all such cases the cause of drought is prolong, and its effects are long term which adversely affects the lives of people living in such areas.
