Solid carbon dioxide is known as dry ice. It gets this name because it does not melt into liquid when heated, instead it directly changes into gas (Sublimation). It is stored in high pressure.

→Solid carbon dioxide (CO2) is called dry ice.
→ Solid CO2 is called as dry ice because solid CO2 gets converted directly into gaseous state by decreasing 1 atmosphere pressure.
→Hence it is called as dry ice.
