✯A few charectistics of earthquake are :

An earthquake has a point of origin in the Earth's crust called the focus. It is the origin of seismic energy - the energy that travels through the various layers of the Earth.
Epicentre is the place on the surface of the Earth rxactly above focus.
The vibrations of an earthquake spread and travel in the form of waves from the epicentre. These vibrations are called seismic waves.
The intensity of an earthquake is the highest near the the epicentre and it decrease and we move away from the epicentre.
