What is echo time? Kindly don't give me the MRI explanation, since this is a 'Sound Waves' topic.

Answer:
In MRI, an echo is the emission of energy in form of an electromagnetic resonance signal of a nuclei after its excitation. At this point spins are back in phase again and the signal is measured.
Explanation:
Echo Time (TE) is the time between the 90° RF pulse and MR signal sampling, corresponding to maximum of echo. The 180° RF pulse is applied at time TE/2. Repetition Time is the time between 2 excitations pulses (time between two 90° RF pulses).
Hope this is helpful for you.
Thank you.

Answer:
echo time is defined as the persistence of the sound after bouncing back from the surfaces..
.
total time for the echo..is 2 times the time of moving of sound to the surface ...as the sound also bound back ...
