this refers to the interaction of both living and non-living things in a community and how they affect each other. Ecosystems range from a tiny pond to large ones like deserts or tropical forests.

A desert is a barren area of land that receives less than 250 mm of rainfall per annum. Temperatures in a desert range from 36 degrees to even 50.
And at night they can be very cold  even going to -3 to -4 degrees.
they are usually found between 10 and 30 both south and north of equater.

the vegetation (xerophytes) include cacti, small bushes,etc.
Animals in the deserts (xerocoles) include camel, generuk camels , scorpions,etc.
about 33% of the earths total land surface are deserts.

Some characteristics of :

A camel;
1. stores water in the pockets of the throat and food on their humps therefore can go for long hours without water.
2.They have tough leatherly tongue and mouths for chewing thorny bushes in the desret.
3.have large pads on their feet for walking over sand.

A saguaro cactus;
1. it can store up to 8,000 liters of water.
2.its arms grow after 75 years
3. people can survive in the desrt by cutting out part of the stem and drinking its moisture.
4.thick waxy skin to reflect some of the suns rays and reduce loss of moisture.

HOPE THIS HELPS :)

➖ An ecosystem is defined as an interacting unit that includes both the biological community as well as the non-living components of an area.

➖ The living and the non-living components of an ecosystem interact amongst themselves and function as a unit, which gets evident during the processes of nutrient cycling, energy flow, decomposition, and productivity.

➖ There are many ecosystems such as ponds, forests, grasslands, etc.

➖ The two components of an ecosystem are:

✔️ Biotic component:

•It is the living component of an ecosystem that includes biotic factors such as producers, consumers, decomposers, etc.

•Producers include plants and algae. They contain chlorophyll pigment, which helps them carry out the process of photosynthesis in the presence of light.

•Thus, they are also called converters or transducers.

•Consumers or heterotrophs are organisms that are directly or indirectly dependent on producers for their food.

•Decomposers include micro-organisms such as bacteria and fungi.

•They form the largest population in a food chain and obtain nutrients by breaking down the remains of dead plants and animals.

✔️ Abiotic component:

•They are the non-living component of an ecosystem such as light, temperature, water, soil, air, inorganic nutrients, etc.
