Electrostatic shielding is the phenomenon of protecting a certain region of space from external electric field . The electric field inside a conductor is zero. ... No electrostatic potential is constant through out the volume of the conductor and has the same values as on its surface .

The property by which electric field do not exist inside cavity of a hollow conductor is called electrostatic shielding. This property is used to protect sensitive devices from cattise damaged by the external electric field.
