✴️\underline\bold{Elements}

An element is a substance that cannot be split up into two or more simpler substance by the usual chemical methods of applying light, heat or electrical energy.

• Elements are made up of only \bold{one} kind of atoms.

\bold{For\:example} :- Carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, aluminium etc.

✴️ Elements are of three types-

\underline\bold{1.Metal}

\bold{Metals\:are\:malleable} => They can be beaten into sheets with hammer without breaking.

\bold{Metals\:are\:ductlie} => They can be drawn into thin wires.

• Metals are good conductor of heat and electricity.

=> \bold{silver} metal is the best conductor of heat.

• Metals are lustrous and can be polished.

\underline\bold{2.Non-metals}

• Non-metals are not malleable nor ductile.

• Non-metals are bad conductor of heat and electricity.

• Diamond a non-metal which is good conductor of heat.

• Graphite a non-metal which is good conductor of electricity.

\underline\bold{3.Metalloids}

The elements which show some properties of metals and some other properties of non-metals are called metalloids.

For example :- Boron, Silicon, germanium.
