What is emulsification? Name the organ where fat is emulsified in the alimentary canal of human beings.

Hi friend, Here is the required answer:-

The bile salts (from the liver) break down the large fat globules into smaller globules so that the pancreatic enzyme lipase can easily act on them. This is referred to as emulsification of fats. This process takes place in the small intestine.

Emulsification:

  Emulsification is a process through which high lipid content food is assimilated into droplets of fat globules, this takes place in the duodenum of the small intestine with the help of Bile juice that is secreted from the liver.  

  The bile "contains bile salts" and bilirubin that help in the reduction of lipids into small fat globules. This globules are them acted upon by the "lipases present" in the body to release energy from the lipids.
